Because Mario Kart Wii is launching next week, the folks at Nintendo have decided to treat “unsuspecting NewYorkers” with free cab rides in Midtown at 8 a.m. -10 a.m. and 12 p.m.-2 p.m. A costumed Mario will literally be hailing cabs for commuters at the Midtown Sheraton at 817 7th Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Streets.  Love this game!
I remember getting in arguments with my college roomate about which cart went the fastest - I know they are supposed to even out but she swore blind that it was much easier to win with Yoshi than big fat Bowser.

This is Aldo, the owner of Bill’s on 54th and Madison and one of the most fascinating men I’ve met in the city. He’s had the bar for more than 45 years and apparently served Al Capone steak on more than one occasion. The bar also used to be a favorite with Marilyn Monroe. However,  the story that fascinated me was his run-in with Frank Sinatra. This was back in the day before Sinatra was famous and he was performing for small crowds to make ends meet. Anyhow, apparently he made a rude comment about Aldo’s date and they decided to ‘take it outside’. Sinatra, being three years older gave him a black eye then shook his hand and said he was a good man for defending his women. Love it.
I think I’ll go and call my grandpa.

Battling around Fairway with a hangover makes me want to cry but I really really need food. Why are the people in there so rude!!!

Just a spoon full of sugar....

Last night I was surprised with a ticket to see Mary Poppins, which took me back to being 7 years old when I made my brother watch the movie everyday for a year. They’ve played around with the story to make it work for the stage but a little artistic licence is acceptable. Maybe I’ve been tainted over the years but I can’t help wondering if Mary Poppins was drugging everyone with her ‘medicine’. The stage interpretation of their adventure in the park was comparable with Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. I also had to laugh at the crazy women sat next to us who demanded to see the usher’s supervisor to complain loudly about the noisy children sat behind - she actually asked for them to be removed. Er…. listen up crazy women… if you don’t like kids go and see Les Miserables.

Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the beautiful theater.

Overheard on the subway (girl and guy remove their repsective ipod earplugs):

Guy: “I love a tune with a smart beat”
Girl: “I love a band that’s not afraid of a big chorus”

Now I can’t stop wondering what they were listening to… perhaps the Gorillaz for the guy and Rooster for the girl but I’m open to suggestions.

brunettes ARE the best.... but red heads have more sex

mascarah:

According to the Times of London, a dating site created a list of the world’s top 100 billionaires and analyzed the tresses of the rich guy’s wives and girlfriends. The results? 62% of billionaires had married women with brown hair. (via Jezebel)

DAMN RIGHT. Brunettes rule.

“Red stands for passion and when a man sees a redhead he will think he is dealing with a woman who won’t mess around, and gets straight to the point when it comes to sex.”
